Bloomsburg University Alumni

Image
Through the past three years I have grown from the girl graduating high school to a graduate of college. The time seemed to move so fast while attending classes and doing everything I could in order to build my resume and be a professional upon graduation. It will be different not having that need to go to a class or report to an ambassador event, but I know that whatever the future holds I will be prepared and put my best foot forward to achieve my goals. Thank you Bloomsburg and all the people I have met through the years you have made a great difference in my life I will always cherish my experiences I had on the beautiful campus.

PR Cases and Problems Real Life Client

Image
This semester my class held a client involved in the Special Olympics. The client was the Bloomsburg Bocce Bash. For a little background the Bocce Bash event is held every fall semester and it’s involved with the Special Olympics. Teams from all over the east coast come to Bloomsburg University to play bocce ball. Each team consists of players with mental disabilities and they all play during this day event filled with activities for them and their families. We called ourselves the Bocce Ballers our slogan was “Let’s Ball Out for Special Olympics.” We created a new logo and printed that on every flyer and social media outlet. My class chose this client due to their need of publicity and money for more bocce courts in order to expand the tournament to accommodate more teams. We rose in total over $1500.00 through an on campus bocce tournament, Indiegogo, canning, bake sales, and advertising through social media outlets.

Internship Articles Posted

I just posted a few examples of writing samples I did for the Chamber of Commerce this past spring 2013 semester. They are located under the pages section of my blog. All articles were published in the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce weekly newsletter that is sent out to every member on each Thursday. They are rather simple examples of my writing skills although they have been published even with their simplicity.

Columbia Montour Bicentennial

The final Timeline Display was 46 inches wide and 22 inches tall. The final Before and After Display was 11 inches wide and 20 inches tall. My project was to create a display for the Columbia Montour Bicentennial at the Chamber of Commerce booth on March 22-23 rd . For two weeks a researched Columbia and Montour Counties history of businesses by contacting and visiting the local historical societies and searching the internet for public data. Once I collected all the pictures and data I needed I decided to display them as a Timeline, as well as, a Before and After presentation. I created these displays on Publisher and then had them sent to a printer for finalization on a thick poster board.

Econometric Research Paper Topic

Image
Today I have finally chosen my research paper topic for my econometric class. I will be analyzing the relationship between family income and the number of extracurricular activities a students participates in while in their college years. I will be excluding Greek life as an activity due to the expenses it costs to participate, all activities included at academic or sports related. The reason I will be including sports and not Greek life is because student's with lower income families may also be paying for school through scholarships, due to being in a low income family. I believe it will result in a negative relationship between the two variables. Reasoning behind my hypothesis is that students with lower family income are more prone to be paying for college themselves. Therefore, they will be more inclined to participate in extracurricular activities to increase their resume and networking possibilities for a better career unlike students from higher ...

Advertising Project

Image
For this semester, I along with 4 other members of my class will be creating an advertising plan for Bloomsburg University MBA program. We will have a target market of adults 25 to 40 who are in current careers, as well as, looking into furthering their career to gain a higher position or a better quality job. I love that this project is a real world client. Out of the 12 groups in 2 classes, the client will choose 2 projects and will actually use the projects for marketing the MBA program at Bloomsburg University.

New Internship Day 1

Image
Today I am starting my second internship, which is at The Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce in Bloomsburg, PA. I will be working under the Director of Marketing/PR and I am very excited to be introduced into another great experience that will enhance my skills in networking and knowledge within the Public Relations job market.

Palestinian Economy Research Paper

Image
I have posted my Palestinian Economy Research Paper under my page section. It talks about the yearly GDP and investments to the culture and climate. Please take the time and enjoy the information collected on Palestine. The country is quite interesting and I really enjoyed researching their country's economic development.

Economics Project Progress

Currently researching the economics of Palestine for my Economy and the Middle East course. It is one out of four countries that will complete this paper. It is always interesting to study another country and understand the way they live and build their own government and how it is different from what I am accustomed to. Although I have learned that Palestine has its challenges, especially with its constant war with Israel. Also the fact that West Bank has a better economic standing than the Gaza Strip, I have found that the people still live the same even with the their differences rather interesting. (research paper coming soon)

Being a Husky Ambassador

Image
This leadership organization is one of the best choices I have made when I came to college. As an ambassador we mainly associate with alumni of the university. We hold many events where the alumni have the chance to return and experience how the campus is today. During the events ambassadors have the chance to socialize and network. These are the times that we as ambassadors cherish, I always enjoy hearing about how college was when they were here as well have receiving helpful advice for my time here and in the career world. Other the dealing with alumni we also lead tour groups on open house to prospective students, organize workshops on and off campus, and attend conferences throughout Pennsylvania. This leadership organization has taught me many skills that are important in getting a job. Networking, and growing as a person. In my opinion, being an Ambassador is the most rewarding organization on campus. Video of what the Ambassadors are:  Website:  Husky Ambassador...

My College Job

I currently hold a position as a cashier at the Bloomsburg University Store. I began this job fall of my junior year and since then I have learned so much. The people I work with are very insightful in many different ways, whether it is helping me through my college studies or giving me advice for my future, they are always there. During my employment I have experienced how they advertise and promote the store through flyers, mailings, and their website. The multiple skills I observe and learn have helped me through many of my PR classes and will continue to guide me through my career. Also, this job has been an opportunity that has grown my knowledge in time management, responsibility, and personal character. I appreciate this job not only for the financial assistance through school, but for the reward of learning these skills that will eventually benefit me in the workforce, as well as, the relationships I have gained. Husky Ambassador Alumni Homecoming

Image
This past weekend was very successful for the alumni and Husky Ambassadors. During the Alumni Tent Party we had around 1,000 attendees from many different graduate classes. As an ambassador, I always enjoy hearing of their past experiences here and how much the campus as changed throughout time. Networking and socializing with the past graduates is always an experience as well, from obtaining new advice for my future or for my current time still at Bloomsburg. The opportunities these alumni events bring is just beyond measurable. Website:  BU Husky Ambassadors

Recent Projects: Newsletter Example

Image
This was a project for my Publicity and PR class where we had to choose a topic and create a newsletter on QuarkXPress. I chose the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce Showcase since in the spring of 2013 I will be holding an internship there under my PR degree.
